Action for Community Health

Action for Community health (ACH) is a non – governmental and non – profit making organization founded in 2015 by a group of South Sudanese professionals from varied education backgrounds and experiences and legally registered with the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) in 2021 with a common goal of providing valuable health care services to the vulnerable people and disadvantaged communities in South Sudan. ACH works in the following thematic areas namely; health, WASH/NTDs, Nutrition/Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) and protection. The organization has been partnering voluntary works with various agencies some of which include Support for Peace and Education Development Program (SPEDP), Centre for Democracy and Development (CEDED), Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development (CEFoRD), community and the church. ACH aims at improving healthcare through increased access, utilization and availability of healthcare services among socio-economically disadvantaged people living in resource constrained settings in South Sudan through direct service deliveries to the needy communities. ACH targets tailored services to attain lasting solutions by addressing beneficiaries’ health problems, Water and Sanitation problems, nutrition, insecure food security and protection through targeted intervention in core issues affecting disadvantaged communities, vulnerable children, girls and women. ACH has a well-established and functional Board of Five (5) members elected by the founding members - which is the supreme body of the organization. The board is the custodian of ACH’s constitution, polices and projects. The Board supervises the management and ensures that it develops, implement and meets the needs of the community. The organization is headed by the Executive Director who is the secretary to the board. The management ensures that the strategies, policies and regulations of the organization are implemented accurately and consistently.

Protection

Children, girls and Women’s protection and legal support intervention aim to strengthen safety nets protecting vulnerable communities (VC) from abuse and exploitation and increase access to legal support and civil restitution for VC and their households. The strategies in which activities will be rooted are: a. Mobilize communities and increase their awareness around protection concerns b. Empower families to access protection and legal redness services c. Enhance referral mechanism through which households can access relevant protection and legal services

Integrated Food Security & Nutrition (FSN)

The response to the food security and nutritional needs of the Vulnerable Communities (VCs) and their households directly contribute to the objectives of the South Sudan government. Food security is addressed through a mix of activities aimed at enhancing the capacities of VCs and households to produce and use foodstuff as household knowledge and the behavior with regard to nutritional practices and services along the following strategic directions: - Increase household food production - Improve food utilization - Refer VCs to existing agricultural, nutritional and health services.
